The Tijara Project is seeking applications from qualified microfinance providers for its large grants program aimed at the development and expansion of commercial lending through microfinance institutions in Iraq. This solicitation is being issued under the USAID Provincial Economic Growth Program (Tijara) implemented by the Louis Berger Group/AECOM joint venture for the US Agency for International Development under USAID Contract number 267-C-00-08-00500-00. Recruiting Announcement: Microfinance Training Program (MFTP)

The Tijara Provincial Economic Growth Program, funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), announces the launch of the Microfinance Training Program (MFTP) for 2008/2009. The participants who successfully pass the training and tests will be certified as co-trainers. They will be responsible for upgrading the operational and technical skills for staff of the Iraqi microfinance institutions (MFIs) supported by Tijara. The staff trained will support the MFIs to become profitable, financially self sufficient, and to progressively integrate into the formal financial sector. The Trainers who will be recruited will be used as-needed as co-trainers, remunerated for each of the up to five day courses they will conduct in a program to be scheduled through 2009.
